Partner Abuse

Physical, emotional and financial abuse are not acceptable in any intimate relationship, regardless of marital status. Legal protections are available for any intimate relationship, not just those who are married. This includes those who are only involved in dating relationships.

Intimate partner abuse is just as common in the LGBTQ community as the straight community. However, the added issues associated with those in the LGBTQ community may make coming forward with allegations of domestic abuse even more difficult.

If a person is not “out,” allowing public documents to be written describing intimate partner abuse may seem too overwhelming and not worth the risk. In fact, this very fear of being “outed” may be one of the threats that is being used against the victim to control them and keep them from seeking help. Don’t let this happen to you. Let us help.
